Hello Friends, First things first: it’s me, Dr. Kevin Jenson, author of Sacred not Sinful: A New Christian Sexual Ethic. You might notice this message is coming from a brand new email address. I recently upgraded my sending platform so I can share resources and stay in touch more reliably this summer. Could you do me a quick favor? Please take a second to add this new email address to your contacts, or drag this message into your Primary folder. (Even better: hit "reply" and just say hi!) This tells your email provider that we know each other and guarantees you won't miss out on the next message. It also gives me a chance to meet you and know what you're thinking about...and I love hearing from people who follow my work! For some of you, it’s been just a few weeks since you first received a copy or a sample of my book Sacred not Sinful; for others, it’s been a few months since my last email about the ONE Flesh Bible Study series. Behind the scenes I've been dropped in to the study of biblical languages as part of my MDiv and now have a basic grasp of the Hebrew language!! Over the next several months, I plan to update my website with new findings from my studies and begin a series of book reviews that I hope you will find useful as you dive deeper into questions of faith and sexuality! Some of them will be more practical and pastoral; others will provide the foundation of excellent biblical exegesis that is too often missing from Christian conversation of sexual ethics. As these new projects get going, I also want to share a way you can take your study deeper starting right now! Last summer I hosted a live, 10-week deep dive called the One Flesh Bible Study. My goal was to take all the concepts from Sacred not Sinful—the Greek exegesis, the historical context of Porneia, and the theology of the body—and build a university-level seminar that you could use to do your own investigation of sexual ethics in the Bible! Since that live cohort ended, I’ve been working behind the scenes to edit and package those sessions so they can be accessed by anyone, anywhere. (If you struggled to see the words on the screen in the free livestreams, you will appreciate the 4k video quality here). I am writing today to let you know that the On-Demand Video Library for the One Flesh Bible Study is finally ready. If you are tired of believing what other people tell you about sexual ethics and want the scholarly tools to look at the original texts for yourself, this course was built for you. We don't skip the uncomfortable verses, and we don't settle for easy answers. Click here for more details and a free preview... As a thank-you to subscribers who buy the course, you'll also get two exclusive bonuses:
Thank you for your patience while I've been working in the background. It is an honor to be back in your inbox, and I am excited for this next season of learning together. In grace, Kevin Jenson, PhD, M.Ed. |
